Welcome to the website of Jordan Joe Thirlwall. Jordan is currently a Teaching Fellow (Physics) in thr Lifelong Learning Centre at the University of Leeds. They have experience as a teacher, supervisor, public outreach ambassador, and sports coach.
PROFESSIONAL BIO
Jordan Joe Thirlwall holds the position of Teaching Fellow (Physics) in the Lifelong Learning Centre at the University of Leeds. Jordan completed his PhD in 2021 at the University of Central Lancashire as part of the Interstellar Medium Group within The Jeremiah Horrocks Institute, supervised by Prof. Cristina C. Popescu. Jordan continues to engage with research, expanding his PhD work.
His research involves using radiative transfer modelling to study the inner and outer views of galaxies. Jordan's research mainly revolves around the radiative transfer modelling of galaxies.

Research Interests: The Interstellar Medium, Radiative Transfer, and the Local Universe.

ASTRONOMY FOR ALL
Jordan has a keen interest in making astronomy and astrophysics accessible to all. With this aim in mind, they have run a range of events for the general public, schools groups of all ages, guide and scout groups, and religious groups. Topics cover all aspects of astronomy ranging from "Building a Universe", "Stars and Planets", "Galaxies", and "Multiwavelength Astronomy": A subject close to their heart.
